Kerala HSE Class 12 Accountancy (Part I, II & AFS)

Kerala HSE Plus Two Accountancy covers not-for-profit organisations, partnership, company accounts and the analysis of financial statements. AFS in the course title stands for Analysis of Financial Statements, one of its four units. ‘Not-for-Profit & Partnership’ has four chapters: accounting for not-for-profit organisations, the basic concepts of partnership accounting, the reconstitution of a partnership (change in ratio, admission and retirement), and the dissolution of a firm. ‘Company Accounts’ covers share capital and the issue and redemption of debentures. ‘Analysis of Financial Statements’ covers the financial statements of a company, comparative and common-size statements, ratio analysis and the cash flow statement. ‘Computerized Accounting’ has a single chapter, ‘Computerized Accounting System’.

The 11 chapters are arranged in 4 units, with 4, 2, 4 and 1 chapters respectively. A chapter page has a quick myth-check and works through 6 or 7 concept cards, followed by a written explanation that includes an Indian example and misconceptions to watch for. The questions section pairs a worked example, whose steps each carry a reason, with 5 practice questions, and the quiz reuses those questions and adds a running score. A ‘Stuck?’ panel, which becomes a button on small screens, holds the graded hints.

A sensible approach is to do the SCERT Kerala textbook problems by hand first and then compare the working with the worked example here, step by step. For class work, the layout the teacher prefers for partnership and company statements should be the one used. The questions on this site are written independently, so they stand beside the textbook’s exercises rather than replacing them, and a suspected error can be reported through the link near the foot of each chapter page.
