CBSE Class 11 Business Studies

Class 11 Business Studies under CBSE covers what business is, how it is organised, the services that support it, how it is financed and how trade is carried on. ‘Foundations of Business’ takes in the nature and purpose of business, forms of business organisation, public, private and global enterprises, business services, emerging modes of business, and social responsibility and business ethics. ‘Corporate Organisation, Finance & Trade’ turns to sources of business finance, small business and enterprises, internal trade and international business. Topics inside these chapters include banking and insurance as services, e-business and outsourcing, the classification of MSMEs, GST and the WTO.

The 10 chapters are grouped into 2 units, 6 in the first and 4 in the second. In every chapter the concept section begins with a quick myth-check, which sets out a common mistaken belief and then corrects it, and continues with 6 or 7 concept cards. Below the cards a written section gives an explanation, an Indian example and a list of common misconceptions. After that come a worked example, 5 practice questions and a quiz made of the same questions, which keeps a running score.

A practical order is to read the chapter in the NCERT textbook, which remains the reference for CBSE students, and then use this page to revisit it. The myth-check works as a quick test: decide whether the belief is true before reading the correction, then compare the answer with the textbook’s wording. Questions about class practice, or about which examples the teacher prefers, are for the teacher, since this site is independent of NCERT and CBSE. The textbook’s own exercises remain a separate task, because the questions here were written separately from them.
