CBSE Class 12 Business Studies

Class 12 Business Studies under CBSE deals with management, and with business finance and marketing. ‘Principles and Functions of Management’ starts with the nature and significance of management and its principles, which include Fayol’s 14 principles and Taylor’s scientific management, then covers the business environment and the functions of management, from planning and organising to staffing, directing and controlling. ‘Business Finance and Marketing’ takes financial management, financial markets, marketing and consumer protection. Topics inside these chapters include motivation and leadership styles, capital structure, fixed and working capital, the money market and the capital market, the role of SEBI, the four Ps of the marketing mix, and the Consumer Protection Act 2019.

The 12 chapters are organised into 2 units, with 8 under the first and 4 under the second. Each chapter page moves from a quick myth-check, through 6 or 7 concept cards, to a written section with an explanation, an Indian example and common misconceptions, and then to a worked example and 5 or 6 practice questions that are repeated as a quiz. A ‘Stuck?’ panel holds three graded hints for each of several misconceptions.

The NCERT textbook is the first place to check a definition or a list, with the concept cards and notes here used for revision afterwards. Marking a chapter complete once it has been studied keeps a running tally on this page, so the chapters not yet done are visible at a glance. Anything that looks wrong, or that the teacher explains differently, can be raised with the teacher and reported through the ‘Suggest an edit’ link on the chapter page.
