Business Studies
SCERT Kerala Plus Two — Principles of Management, Business Environment, and Marketing.
Kerala HSE Class 12 Business Studies
Kerala HSE Plus Two Business Studies is concerned with management, the business environment and marketing. The first unit, ‘Management — Principles & Functions’, starts from what management is and why it matters, then takes the principles associated with Fayol and with Taylor, the business environment with its economic, political, social, technological and legal forces, and the five functions in turn: planning, organising, staffing, directing and controlling. ‘Business Finance, Markets & Marketing’ covers financial management, financial markets, marketing and consumer protection. Staffing is explained through recruitment, selection, training and development, directing through supervision, motivation, leadership and communication, and consumer protection through the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
The 12 chapters sit in 2 units, 8 in the first and 4 in the second. Each chapter page offers a short myth-check, concept cards (6 or 7) with real-life examples, and a written section that pairs an explanation with an Indian example. The questions section has a worked example alongside 5 practice questions, each followed by an explanation once answered, and the same questions are collected into a quiz that tallies the score. Chapters can be ticked off with ‘Mark as complete’, and the ticks and the number done are saved in the browser.
The SCERT Kerala textbook should be the reference for the exact terms and classifications, with the concept cards and quiz used to test recall afterwards. Where the teacher gives a class example or a different classification, the teacher’s version is the one to follow for class work. If a quiz answer or explanation looks wrong, it can be reported through the ‘Suggest an edit’ link on the chapter page. Because the site is not affiliated with SCERT, what the class covers remains the teacher’s decision.
